I am just going to export the stems as they are and then import into a new session. A 24 bit vocal file was suddenly appearing as an unreadable 8-bit file, after closing the project and reopening a short time later. Fortunately, it was a duplicate I was working with, so I didn't lose the original.
I've been browsing some of the threads about this and some are pointing finger at the use of FAT formatted hard drives, but that wasn't the case for me. However, it might be worth pointing out that I was working on a project that was in my Dropbox folder on my computer.
I don't know if this is relevant or not I've done this many times without any issues but I figured I'd mention it. As for back ups I could no revert for to long back and I did not have any other back ups. Es for external hard drive I had the problem when all files where on my MAC. Eg, I did not use an external hard drive for the project. Tried everything I know, have a couple of PC Programs that I use and can get the audio but the file is noisy, gave it a try, sorry you lost a bunch of work, this should not be happening in a pro app. I know you were working with a big project but -no matter what- a professional application should not randomly corrupt files.
Did your drive become low on storage space? How many GB do you have free on the system drive. What is the exact format of your internal drive, Mac OS Extended or the more recent format? Could not find the exact data on Harddrive, so I am adding another image here if that makes sense. Its and kinda old MacBook pro, but I have no issues with it. I have been running logic on it for a long time. I have experienced this issue before, but not to such an extend as now.
